How TikTok is Transforming Beauty Trends

At Mind Body & Soul Medical in Pensacola, Florida, we see firsthand how TikTok and other social platforms are transforming the beauty industry. Every day, patients walk into our office with screenshots of the latest viral treatments, eager to bring those trends to life.

Our founder, Marlee Bruno, certified physician assistant and aesthetics expert, explains that TikTok has completely changed how people approach beauty. “It’s not just about discovering new treatments anymore,” she says. “It’s literally driving demand.”

Among the most talked-about procedures is the so-called “salmon sperm facial.” While the name raises eyebrows, the treatment — medically known as PDRN therapy — is rooted in science. Using DNA fragments derived from salmon, this therapy can help repair damaged skin, improve hydration, and boost collagen production. Already popular in Korea for its “glass skin effect,” it’s now gaining traction in the U.S. thanks to TikTok.

Other trending “tweakments” include “Barbie Botox,” or “Trap-tox,” where Botox is injected into the trapezius muscles to slim the shoulders and elongate the neckline. These subtle yet striking enhancements are part of what Bruno calls the “soft glow revolution” — a shift toward procedures that help patients look naturally refreshed and photo-ready.

But TikTok’s reach isn’t limited to adults. A growing group of “Sephora Kids” — teens and preteens shopping for anti-aging skincare — raises concerns. Bruno cautions that many of these products and treatments aren’t designed for young skin and could even be harmful. “Some of these so-called preventative treatments are just overkill at that age,” she notes.

At Mind Body & Soul Medical, we encourage patients of all ages to do their research, consult trusted providers, and focus on what makes sense for their body and long-term goals. Social media may fuel beauty trends, but safe, thoughtful care will always be in style.
